Dear Mr.Fletcher,

With reference to your letter of 3rd March,

1 right in supposing that:-

(a) You do not want to be considered for a post in any Colony or Protectorate to which your wife could not accompany you. There is practically no Colony or Protectorate to which the wife of a senior (ecretariet

officer could accompany him if she were in normal good health. At Lagos, for instance, there are lots of officers who have their wives with them.

(b) You are quite prepared to go to a Colony where you couldn't have your children with you provided you could have your wife out there.

Your letter is perhaps not quite clear on the second point and it is desirable that there should be no misunderstanding,
